On the 11th of April 2015 Make Me Smile held the first Safe Park ever in Kenya, Kisumu County, East Kolwa Sub County Kawese Village Angola Centre. An estimated number of 500 children attended.
A Safe Park is a safe playing ground for vulnerable children who can then enjoy the total feeling of being a child. It provides children with time and place to play within a protective circle of friendly and qualified personnel.
Children have the opportunity to open up, share their challenges, interact with one another, learn from one another, explore their talents and learn their rights. Safe Parks will be intended to increase the involvement of family and community participation.
A lot of children are suffering from traumatic experiences. With the establishment of our first permanent Safe Park we want to decrease trauma symptoms and help the children in their social and emotional behaviour. Apart from that it is important to build awareness and to provide information about HIV/AIDS, Prevention, Family Planning, Health and Hygiene, Organic Farming Methods as well as other Issues among the children and the Youths.

Our new Safe Park – a safe place to be, which strengthens our communities in important life skills and solidarity 🙂
