We believe that Gender Inequality is one of the biggest challenges of our modern world, which we can all contribute to change – one step at a time.

Hiking for a good cause in Vienna

Like last year, a small group of motivated hikers met in Vienna for the Gender Equality Hike 2022. Together they hiked through the city’s vineyards and the forest. In addition to walking together, the main focus was on getting to know each other and on an exchange about current projects.

Gender Equality is one of the focus areas of our work in Kenya. The donations received from our supporters worldwide are used for training courses on women’s rights, high-quality vocational training for young mothers, and legal and psychological support for women who have experienced sexual or gender based violence.

Through walking, we set an example and draw attention to an issue that affects people worldwide! In addition, your donation directly supports projects that benefit those affected by Gender Inequality.

Pictures that speak for themselves

Early in the morning, the group of young Kenyans set off to Nandi Rock, the highest point of Kisumu County. Among the active people were Make Me Smile staff and volunteers as well as several beneficiaries of our projects.

On our project page you can learn more about how your donation benefits these people.

In our Youth Friendly Centre, our Health Center and in the programs supported by the Austrian Development Agency and USAID, women’s rights, reproductive health and equal opportunities are top priorities.

Our Kenyan team also set an example with their hike. The pictures probably speak for themselves!

The Gender Equality Hike will continue until October 2, 2022, but even beyond that, your contribution is essential.

If you would still like to hike, or donate for the kilometres you walked, you can do so here.
