Climate change is reshaping our world in ways that affect every aspect of life—health, education, and the economy. Kisumu, in particular, has felt these changes acutely, with intense heatwaves, flooding, drought, malnutrition, and even loss of life. As the climate crisis escalates, it becomes clear that action is needed now more than ever.
In a bid to raise awareness and support for our climate action projects, Make Me Smile organized a global run. This exciting event brought together participants from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Uganda, Kenya, Romania, and the Netherlands, uniting us all in a common cause. The event wasn’t just about running—it was about coming together as a global community to take steps, quite literally, towards a healthier planet.
A whopping 90 people registered for the run globally, with around 40 participants in Kenya. In Kenya, runners tackled a challenging 15-kilometer course, with the fastest among them crossing the finish line in just 58 minutes. Meanwhile, in Vienna, Austria, participants completed a 21-kilometer run and celebrated with a lively gathering for family and friends.
Every step taken, whether through running, hiking, cycling, dancing, or swimming, was a step closer to a healthier planet and lots of smiles. Thanks to the dedication of our participants and the generosity of our supporters, we raised 1000 Euros to build new houses and plant trees. Each participant contributed to the global effort, showing that no matter where you are in the world, you can make a difference.
