Building Bridges to Brighter Futures
From humble beginnings supporting 10 girls in 2008 to transforming entire communities across Kisumu County, Make Me Smile Kenya proves that sustainable change happens when health, education, empowerment, and justice work hand in hand.
Measurable Impact
Numbers that represent transformed lives and stronger communities
The Power of Integration
How our interconnected programs create exponential impact – where the whole becomes greater the the sum of its parts.
🏢 One Ecosystem
All programs operate from our Mayenya Community Center, creating natural cross-referrals and resource sharing. When a mother attends vocational training, her child plays safely at the Safe Park next door.
🔄 Holistic Journey
A young mother might access childcare while learning tailoring, receive health services during pregnancy, learn sustainable farming for food security, and get legal support – all within one supportive Ecosystem
🤝 Community-Driven
Rather than imposing external solutions, we build on existing community structures and involve local leadership, making our interventions appropriate and sustainable.
📈 Graduated Support
From crisis intervention to long-term empowerment, our programs move beneficiaries toward independence. Today’s program participants become tomorrow’s community leaders and mentors.

How Our Programs Work Together
Integration creates exponential impact across our community
Cross-Program Referrals
Health center patients use the Safe Park while waiting for results. Vocational students take IT classes. OVC families receive permaculture training for food security.
Shared Infrastructure
All programs operate from our Mayenya Community Center. Mothers use childcare facilities, students access the library, everyone benefits from health services proximity.
Multiplying Impact
Success in one program amplifies others. Economic independence through training leads to investment in children’s education. Gender equality improvements benefit all programs.
Stories of Transformation
Real people, real change, lasting impact
Breaking Cycles of Violence
We had this very aggressive boy who was using drugs and stealing from his grandmother. Through Safe Park activities, counseling, and patient intervention, he completely transformed. Now he’s back in school, performing well, and his whole family dynamic changed—the grandmother has peace, and teachers now trust our programs.
Economic Independence
Christine was battling depression from domestic violence when she joined our production unit. Through mentorship and steady income from tailoring work, she learned to handle conflict, gained confidence, and can now support her family independently. She built her own house and became a role model in her community.
Justice for Survivors
Before our paralegals program, many women suffered in silence. Now we have trained legal advisors who regularly visit women at home, carry out interventions, and ensure women get their rights. Cases that would have been swept under the rug are now being heard in court.
Digital Opportunities
After completing our IT certification program, John didn’t just get a job—he opened an internet cafe in his rural village. Now young people don’t have to travel to Kisumu for computer access, and he’s training others in digital literacy while earning 3,000 shillings weekly.
Community Health Champions
Our 24/7 health center doesn’t just treat illness—it prevents it. Mothers now come for regular check-ups, families plan their children, and our community health promoters ensure no one falls through the cracks. We’ve dramatically reduced maternal mortality and improved child health outcomes.
Cultural Transformation
Over 90% of people in our community now know their HIV status. We worked with churches and traditional leaders to change harmful practices like wife inheritance. When pastors preach about safe sex and knowing your status, the congregation says ‘Amen’ and starts practicing it. That’s systemic change.
Recognition & Regional Impact
Our integrated model is inspiring change beyond Kisumu County
Best Implementing Partner
Awarded “Best Implementing Partner in Western Kenya” by USAID/World Vision for our comprehensive approach and measurable outcomes.
Knowledge Exchange
Other counties are requesting knowledge exchanges to replicate our integrated model. Our approach is inspiring similar programs across East Africa.
Government Partnership
Working closely with County Government ensures sustainability. Our health center operates in partnership with public health systems, creating a replicable model.
Sustainable Change
Communities continue improving even when direct support ends. We build local capacity rather than dependency, ensuring long-term transformation.
Join Our Integrated Mission
Every donation, partnership, and act of support helps us build more bridges between health, education, justice, and empowerment. Together, we can transform more communities across Kenya and beyond.
