At the age of 29, Isaac began his education at the Future Hub in 2023, a key move that resonates with his lifelong interest in computers. With three children aged 2 to 5, Isaac’s journey is not only about personal success, but also about providing a better future for his family.
Isaac’s upbringing was shaped by financial instability. “Sometimes I was in school and sometimes I wasn’t because there was never enough money,” he says. Despite these challenges, Isaac’s determination was unwavering. He began working at the age of nine to pay for his education, so he wasn’t able to graduate high school until he was almost 20. After high school, Isaac managed to study computer science at college for one semester. However, again financial problems and the lack of a support system forced him to drop out. Isaac was always creative and took on various jobs, from working as a gym instructor to barbering, although he knew his true passion was working with computers.

The turning point came when Isaac heard about an offer from MMS that focused on computer skills for young people. This was the opportunity he had been waiting for. He enrolled in three of five courses at the Future Hub, each lasting 10 weeks. The Future Hub’s comprehensive courses equipped Isaac with a range of skills. “The courses were very extensive and gave me so much knowledge. I focused on the things I knew I would need after graduating and took in all the information,” Isaac explains. The training and the support of his teachers were a big help in realizing his dream of owning a small office.

Immediately after graduating, Isaac opened his own business, an internet café, where he offers services such as typing, photography, printing and helping school children. In the beginning, he had no equipment of his own and had to rely on the support of a friend who lent him a computer. With the money he earned from his services, Isaac was able to buy his own gear and expand little by little. His business not only provides for his family but also serves the community. “When you have a vision, even though the mission is not easy, it can be reached,” he believes. Importantly, Isaac is now able to provide for his family and pay the school fees for his children, a significant achievement given his own struggles with education.

Isaac aims to expand his business to employ others, particularly students from the Future Hub. “If I did it, others can do it too,” he says.

Reflecting on his past struggles, Isaac admits, “In the course of my journey, I almost was lost to drugs, but my education and my belief helped me make a turn.” Since MMS is offering these trainings that also include boys, the community and myself felt more supported than in the past.

Isaac’s message to others is clear: “Nothing comes easy, you have to work for it. If you are aiming for something, your head should be held high.” His journey from a boy who struggled to stay in school to now owning a small business and inspiring others is a powerful example of what can be achieved with determination and support.

“This is just a beginning”, Isaac says, “My hopes are high to someday advance my studies and follow my dream to become a computer expert”.
